Tomek Baran, born in 1985 in Stalowa Wola, lives and works in Cracow. He is a graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in 2010, Departament of Painting. He made a debut in F.A.I.T. Gallery in 2008 during the Campaign for Revaluating Abstraction.
His solo exhibitions took place among others in: Bunkier Sztuki, Cracow (2012); BWA Art Gallery, Olsztyn (2016); Center for Creative Activities, Ustka (2015); Platán Gallery, Budapest (2015); Austrian Cultural Forum, Warsaw (2014); Żak | Branicka Gallery, Berlin (2018). He participated in a number of group exhibitions in Poland and abroad among them: State Art Gallery, Sopot (2019); TRAFO Center of Contemporary Art, Szczecin (2017); Stefan Gierowski Foundation, Warsaw (2017); XVI International Painting Triennial, Vilnius (2016); Polnisches Institut, Berlin (2016); MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art, Cracow (2015); Miroslav Kubik Gallery, Litomyšl (2015); Labirynt Gallery, Lublin (2015); Boccanera Gallery, Trident (2015); Museum of Modern Art, Warsaw (2014). In 2010 he had the residence in Montrouge, France and received the honourable mention of Strabag Artaward and had residence in Vienna (2012). He was the recipient of ‘Młoda Polska’ Fellowship from Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland.
His works are part of collections in the National Museum in Gdańsk; Bunkier Sztuki, Cracow; ING Polish Art Foundation; Strabag Artcollection, Vienna.
