Title: Bombyx Mori No.2

Medium: Acrylic and glass on linen

Dimentions: 230 x 230 cm

Year of Creation: 2024

Bombyx Mori (domestic silkworm) symbols transformation and metamorphosis.

In the large-scale paintings, made of raw linen, a carefully selected color palette, and outward-extending textile spaces—”pockets”—the forms evoke the silkworm’s cocoon, encapsulating themes of growth and creation. These “pockets” become metaphoric vessels, holding the tension between fragility and resilience inherent in the lifecycle of Bombyx Mori.

The nature-inspired shapes, painted aroun the canvas, with colors reflecting the ‘melancholy of north’ where the artist originates, enhance the organic fluidity of the compositions. Together, these elements create a dialogue of the organic, evoking a sense of metamorphosis that bridges personal heritage and universal cycles of growth and renewal. The works invite the viewer to contemplate the fragility and resilience woven into both nature and human experience.
