Title: Love and Hangover

Medium: thermoplastic imprints, video with sound

Dimentions: 300 x 200 cm

Year of Creation: 2024

The installation evokes an in-between state—a moment of transformation where identity and materiality begin to dissolve. Szostek uses a unique thermoplastic technique in which photography becomes a raw material transformed into digital and hand-composed collages. These are then applied to surfaces that resemble both the smoothness of screens and the softness of human skin. This technique stems from the experience of perceiving images as bodies and the constant need to reshape and reinterpret them.

Visually, the artist explores the relationship between image and body, merging organic and synthetic elements into hybrid forms. The work speaks about intoxication and love—both being the essence of life beyond liminal states. Ecstasy, desire, hallucination, loss, pain, guilt, and helplessness—these emotions and experiences shape its narrative. Szostek seeks to capture the moment of looking at oneself in the passage of time, when we feel detached and sense an inevitable collapse, balancing between guilt and innocence.
